There's no contract and no obligation. The catch, honestly: it's our best sales pitch. If the concept is good, you'll want the full version. If it isn't, you tell us why and we part as friends.

What do we need to provide to get started?

Your product catalog, the options and variants for each product, any pricing logic, and your brand assets. Existing spec sheets, order forms, or a price list are perfect. We work from whatever you already have. We handle the rest.

How long does it take to build?

Accepted Answer

Typically 4–5 weeks from kickoff to live. Week 1 is discovery and scoping, weeks 2–4 are the build, week 5 is testing and refinement. We don't start the clock until we have what we need from you.

Our catalog is huge. Where would we even start?

Accepted Answer

With one product line: the one that generates the most quotes or the most back-and-forth. That's where the payback is fastest and where your team feels the difference first. Once it's proven, adding lines is far cheaper than the first build, because the framework is already there.

We're a 50-year-old company and not very technical. Is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

It's our specialty. Every client we've worked with is a manufacturer, not a software company. You never touch code: we build it, host it, and hand you a simple admin panel for day-to-day changes. If you can edit a spreadsheet, you can run your configurator.

How much does a configurator cost?

It depends on depth. A visual spec builder, where buyers configure, see a live preview, and submit a complete spec for your team to quote, typically starts around $12,000. A full quote engine with your pricing logic, dealer accounts, and ERP integration is usually a $25,000–45,000 project. The free concept costs nothing and tells you which one you actually need.

Is there a monthly fee? Is it required?

Hosting and maintenance run a few hundred per month, which covers uptime, updates, and small changes. The larger retainer covers new product lines, ongoing development, and priority turnaround, and it's optional. No platform fees, no per-seat licensing, no lock-in.

Do we own it after it's built?

Yes. The code, the content, and the admin access are yours. It runs on your domain under your brand. If you ever want to host and maintain it yourself, you can take it and go.

What happens when our products or prices change?

You update them yourself through the admin panel. New finishes, new sizes, and price adjustments never need a developer. Bigger structural changes, like a whole new product line, are covered under the retainer or scoped as small projects.

What's the return on investment, concretely?

Accepted Answer

Count what quoting costs you now: estimator hours spent chasing missing specs, quotes that go stale in the pile, remakes from mis-specced orders, and deals lost to whoever answered faster. A configurator attacks all four. For most wholesale manufacturers, the build pays for itself if it saves each estimator under an hour a day, and most save more.

Can it stop buyers from ordering invalid combinations?

Do we need 3D, or are 2D visuals enough?

Accepted Answer

For most B2B products, high-quality 2D that updates with every selection is enough. It's faster to build, loads instantly, and buyers mainly need to confirm 'that's the right color and configuration.' 3D is worth it when spatial understanding sells the product. We'll recommend honestly, because we build both.

Who creates the product visuals?

We do, from whatever you have: product photos, CAD files, or technical drawings. Every variant a buyer can select gets rendered so the preview always matches the spec.
